• Voted H Texas Magazine's Best Lawyer for the People - 2008

Pete is board certified by the State Bar of Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Civil Trial law and Personal Injury Trial law. Of the over 55,000 Texas lawyers, less than 550 or (1%) are board certified in both of these areas of trial specialization. He is also board certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is rated AV ( the highest rating given) by the one hundred (100) year old Martindale-Hubble directory that rates American lawyers. The firm he formed with his wife Patrice is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers in America published by Martindale-Hubble. Pete has twenty-eight (28) years experience trying a variety of cases ranging from personal injury and wrongful death actions to business disputes between individuals and corporations. For the past several years, he has spent a significant percentage of his time representing injured railroad workers in FELA actions.

Pete was raised in a working class family; his first paying job was as a busboy at age twelve (12) years. He understands the everyday problems the injured worker faces, and he is proud to represent hard working union members and their families.

In the fall of 2008, H Texas Magazine delivered nearly 10,000 ballots to the lawyers in the Houston area. They asked them to vote for one of their colleagues that they have seen in action. Votes were counted and credentials were verified with the State Bar of Texas. Pete McKinney was named to H Texas Magazine's Best Lawyers for the People.

FELA Claims - BLET Designated Legal Counsel
The Federal Employers’ Liability Act was passed by Congress in 1908, for the purpose of providing compensation to railroad employees who are injured on the job. It enables injured employees to bring claims directly against their employers where it can be shown that it was the railroad's negligence that caused the injury. more
Auto & Truck Accidents
Medical expenses, loss of earnings, damages, rewards for disfigurement and impairment can be recovered if you have been hurt in an accident.

Industrial Accidents
There are countless ways that accidents can occur in industries that involve heavy equipment and machinery. Third and fourth party accidents involving insurance companies can be complex and expensive. It is imperative that you find a law firm that knows how to combat these firms and their legal walls. Defective equipment, exposure at the workplace and slips & falls are a few of the hazards that workers and sometimes non-workplace related victims encounter.

Wrongful Death
Loosing a loved one can be a very troublesome time in a family's life. Blame, fault and accountability are a few words that are synonymous with a wrongful death. At McKinney & McKinney, we care about our clients. If you have a loved one that has recently passed away due to the negligence of another party, we'd like to hear from you.

Business Litigation
M & M have the experience to handle complex business litigation. Real estate acquisitions, commercial transactions, class actions, business torts . . .

Toxic Exposure
Chemical engineers, railroad workers and oil refinery workers are examples of clients that
M & M have represented in the past. Individuals exposed to non-visible toxins can sometimes go years without symptoms of exposure. In toxic exposure law suits, it is very important that a law firm has top leading experts.

Oil Rig & Oil Field Injury
Let's face it, oil rig and oil field workers have a tuff and dangerous job. If you or a loved one have had an accident and need legal presentation, you need a firm that has experience battling tough oil company law firms. We have handled cases involving many types of injuries including neck injuries, back injuries, amputations, para/quadriplegia and more.

Construction Accidents
In the US, a construction worker is injured or killed on a daily basis. Much of the time, access to these construction areas is limited or has changed by the time litigation is in full swing. With this in mind, you need a firm that has the ability to reconstruct these accidents and possibly show to a jury, exactly what happened.

Product Liability
There are so many products available to consumers today.
